Purpose

~ To execute and manage Cost Optimization (CO) projects effectively and support activities for the Commercial Engagement team under the CO PMO. This position will focus on managing automotive purchase part cost reductions, localization strategies, inbound logistics projects, and other technical or content projects as assigned.

Major Responsibilities

~ Lead collaboration efforts with cross-functional teams to achieve CO targets.

~ Understand in-depth the principles of Value Engineering and Cost Optimization projects.

~ Identify measures, risks, and processes involved in modeling ideas to ensure quality and safety.

~ Define “should cost” process by building models, analyzing trends, forecasting, and other analytical functions.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

~ Manage ideation Level of Implementation (LI) reviews, track progress, and report to CO PMO.

~ Coach and train on modeling processes, tools, and system (COMS) as necessary.

~ Coordinate VA/VE workshop activities and work closely with 3rd party costing experts.

~ Perform cost benchmarking, tear-down analyses, and clean sheet calculations as needed.

~ Identify potential new sourcing opportunities through market research and study.

~ Benchmark cost analysis of competitors’ vehicle specifications.

Authority

~ Conduct meetings, as needed, with cross-functional team within HMMA.

~ Document and manage incoming cost optimization ideas, create validation plans, and ensure execution & reporting.   

~ Represent the Cost Optimization Organization in VA/VE related activities.
~ Work to meet Commercialization Cost reduction targets.

~ Travel up to 30% of the time domestically and internationally.

Education

~ Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible supply chain experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in the automotive industry.

~ Vehicle Cost expert or reengineering experience highly recommended.

~ Knowledge of design concept, manufacturing and assembly of core components is a huge plus.

~ Working experience in one or more areas of the vehicle parts sourcing is required.

~ The ideal candidate is someone who is skilled at conflict management and enjoys dynamic environment.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Strong written and oral communication is a must.

~ Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

~ Strong analytical/problem solving ability.

~ Strong data management and statistical analysis/reporting.

~ Experience utilizing Computer Aided Design tools (capability in CATIA V5 ideal, but not required).

Certification Required

~ Valid Driver's License.

~ Satisfactory driving record.

Physical Requirements

Actively participate in hands-on vehicle tear-down and related activities
Occasional Lifting and/or vehicle mechanical assembly/disassembly
Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Some travel required
Travel: 25% - 50%

$81,200.00 - $116,000.00 Annual
