~ The purpose of the job is to provide professional expertise in the area of general accounting. The assignment encompasses both technical expertise and ability to interface well with employees at all levels, vendors, auditors, etc. The job is a required resource to meet management accounting, HMC, and statutory financial reporting requirements.

Major Responsibilities

~ Lead asset capitalization criteria review, assign fixed asset control numbers for additions, send fixed asset tags to custodians and  track responses, record transfers and dispositions, and reconcile the fixed asset register to the general ledger.

~ Prepare the fixed asset-related reports including fixed asset roll-forward, depreciation, construction in process, and other ad hoc reports as required.  Ensure all financial footnote requirements are met for both IFRS and US GAAP reporting.

~ Coordinate the annual fixed asset inventory: provide fixed asset custodians lists, provide support and direction to custodians, conduct follow-ups on disposals and transfers, and prepare the fixed asset inventory results memo.

~ Analyze and coordinate with operating departments to complete operating expense accruals

~ Provide assistance to Tax department including fixed asset data compilation for property tax and income tax reporting.

~ Prepare routine and complex account analysis, journals and account reconciliations for assigned accounts: cash accounts, accrued interest, tax, insurance amortizations, etc.

~ Provide support for quarterly/annual financial reporting.

~ Create and maintain documentation of desk level procedures.

Related Experience

~ Four years of general accounting experience 

~ Bachelor's degree in accounting


~ Demonstrates a clear understanding and knowledge of general accounting methods, accounting theory, and principles and practices of corporate accounting, including data processing applications.

~ Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

~ Attention to detail and self-audit of work product.

~ Excellent analytical skills and ability to summarize conclusions in an executive summary format.

~ Knowledge of and able to effectively utilize ERP systems (primarily modules related to accounting and fixed assets), Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

$57,400.00 - $82,000.00 Annual
