Purpose

~ This position is responsible for achieving the company’s Accessories Sales and Profit objectives by managing and overseeing Accessories for the assigned models from initial planning, project management and development ensuring all accessories are available by the time of vehicle wholesale:

~ Develop, plan, and track accessory development with key suppliers beginning from initial vehicle concept based on the long-range strategic vehicle plan to vehicle production.

~ Coordinate cross functionally with HMC, HMC Customizing Team and HMNA Product Planning in addition to coordinating all HMA, Affiliates, and non HMA groups to ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and business performance of Accessories.

~  Track and lead development milestones and launch gate activities, ensure vehicle development has proper accommodations for key accessories and to promote ease of installation at ports and dealers.

~ Report on and track trends for future accessory development and planning to optimize margin and revenue for future vehicle and accessory opportunities.

~ Evaluate and/or propose accessory offerings from vendors and partners. Investigate opportunities to offer new accessories that focus on vehicle system integration, enthusiast accessories, lifestyle accessories, vehicle performance and connectivity.

Major Responsibilities

~ Lead creation of monthly executive updates on accessory status, requests, risks and opportunities.

~ Collaborate with Product Line Management, Vehicle Pricing, Product Planning, Distribution, Glovis and Genesis as needed.

 

~ Identify and source new accessories through existing or new Suppliers. Implement and coordinate process improvements, or issue resolution with Suppliers.

~ Coordinate with HMNA Quality and Engineering to incorporate needs into design specifications to reduce IQS and other customer complaint level potential concerns

~ Develop specifications, testing requirements, lifecycle durability and other design validation related activities to maximize product quality and customer adoption

~ Study installation labor times and feasibility for accessory installation and publishing instructions to ports and/or dealers for installation.

~ Work closely with Parts Pricing to support Pricing Sheets for DIO and PIO accessories by providing Installation rates, estimated accessory sales, and other analytics

~Support the Sr. Manager, PIO Sales as needed by interfacing with Distribution, Glovis and Mobis, and other business units to support Accessory sales and development

~ Responsible for the approval and on-time delivery of accessory parts designated by various stakeholders, HMC, GHQ and Product Planning.

~ Responsible for tracking progress of all departments’ activities to support accessory part operations and development.

~ Manage and develop accessory training, installation guides, Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), and other necessary documentation required to support customer satisfaction and the owner experience.

~ Manage a staff; effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff’s time, materials and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.
~ Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Authority

~ Negotiate accessory pricing and PIO & DIO application rates with Accessory Suppliers based on competitive pricing data.

~ Department leadership, employee supervision, program development, problem identification, and finding solutions are all expected in this position.

~ Manage budget, expenses and approvals in accordance with company policies and procedures.

~ Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.

~ Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.

~ Coach and provide career development advice to staff.

Education

~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Eight years of Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience.
~ Two to three years of Managerial experience desired.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

~ Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
~ Strong written and oral communication skills.
~ Strong analytical/problem solving ability.

~ Strong data management/general and 

statistical analysis/reporting capabilities.

~ Strong organizational skills yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.

~ Able to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
