Location
Purpose
- The primary purpose is to manage the activity and authenticity of HGMA’s retail Dealer Network, including the appointment and termination of Dealers and Buy/Sells, as well as any changes to the ownership, management, corporate status, location, or successorship of Dealer’s operations. In addition, this position assists in the advancement and communication of National “policy and procedure” guidelines as they relate to the strategic development and maturation of HGMA’s Dealer Network. This position monitors compliance with said policies and procedures and escalates substantive issues of Regional concern to Executive management, making recommendations for resolution that strive to maintain HGMA’s representative competitiveness while recognizing the challenges presented by marginal sales efficiency, profitability, and escalating dealer expenses.
Major Responsibilities
- Management reviews of all dealer submission of dealer sales and service agreement (DSSA) contract packages for accuracy and adherence to established HGMA policy in terms of all dealer obligations such as facilities, net working capital, ownership structure, and dealership management.
- Evaluate Dealers’ performance and compliance with performance management program specifications.
- Review the proposed appointment of dealership General Manager candidates by the Dealer; ensure that the ownership and management addendum is reflected properly in the DSSA.
- Review and re-evaluate existing Department policy regarding management of the dealer network and develop innovative solutions that address dealer representation issues in the current market environment.
- Use independent judgement to review and modify DSSA contract agreements language as needed in collaboration with HGMA Legal teams.
Major Responsibilities (continued)
- Assist in the development and implementation of HGMA’s short-, mid- and long-term business plans for Dealer Network Development.
- Promote the realization of a brand compliant Dealer Network through the ongoing analysis of Dealers’ facility and branding obligations via provisional language included in the DSSA and Addenda. This includes verifying that the dealer meets all facility build timelines as documented in the DSSA and Addenda.
- Maintain HGMA’s national master Dealer Network file database and address any related inquiries.
- Monitor ongoing dealer activities to ensure the accuracy and completeness of intercompany databases and master dealer files.
- Supervise the workload as well as the organizational and professional development of 2-3 department associates.
- Maintain an open, knowledgeable, and responsive channel of communication on an interdepartmental, regional and third party (vendor) basis.
- Actively engage and participate in monthly National DND and Regional Market Representation DSSA compliance meetings.
- Generate and publish reports, identify, and resolve DND systems issues, enhance communications on various Market Representation databases and websites and support requests for ad hoc projects.
- Use effective management skills and agreement contract knowledge to perform all other assigned duties (duties that are ancillary to this position and/or complement the essential duties) as required.
- Update all assigned projects and agreement package trackers in a timely manner; escalate issues with any agreements for National DND and Executive review.
- Collaborate with Regions, National DND, and Legal to fully execute all agreement packages within policy requirements.
Authority
- Position has authority to make day-to-day decisions that will resolve dealer issues that arise within policy and procedures.
- Ability to communicate (written and orally) the analysis for the decisions made.
- Additional authority as given by the Sr. Group Manager Market Representation or the Dealer Development Executive Director.
Education
Related Experience
- Eight or more years of experience of which at least five years of directly related experience in the automotive industry.
- Region experience, a plus.
- Three or more years of supervisory experience is desired.
Skills/Knowledge
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Critical thinking and understanding the Big Picture.
