Purpose

  • The Senior Manager of Data Intelligence Group (DIG) will develop and oversee advanced analytic strategies to maximize usage of data across Hyundai Motor America (HMA) to enhance HMA business goals.
  • The candidate must serve as the strategic manager for advanced analytics by overseeing data engineering, machine learning model development and sustainment.
  • This position is responsible for leading and influencing across HMA business units and affiliates to use, avoid redundancy in creation of similar models and to create actionable predictive models for enterprise consumption.
  • Business acumen will be critical in articulating to business benefits to executives. In this capacity, this role will work with senior HMNA/HMA/GMA and Hyundai affiliates executives to develop analytics roadmaps, manage portfolio, maximize development efficiency, and expedite time to market for all key technology and advanced analytics initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Spearhead predictive analytics practice at HMA which is setup as a hub and spoke model. This position is the leader for analytical practices and is to support the spoke which are individuals or teams within other business units focused on analytics.
  • Co-chair the “Data Intelligence (Users) Group” to lead the expansion for HMA’s use of Big Data analytics through establishing standards and best practices and through nurturing each business unit to build their own capabilities and uses.
  • Supports the business through various project stages from ideation to project kickoff to managing technology and vendor selection, assisting solution development, and validating project deliverables.
  • Responsible for identifying issues and opportunities related to analytical data platform.
  • Serve as process owner for model management, model degradation analysis and model usage and governance.
  • Advocate for the usage of analytics across all business groups and develops roadmaps to lead Hyundai towards integrated usage of predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Develop business requirements for model development and usage.
  • Lead implementation of changes and participate in user acceptance testing, as necessary.
  • Serve as the strategic manager for data within the business and in that capacity serve as the principal voice for data quality, integration, and governance of analytics.
  • Lead enterprise data intelligence activities to complete major and minor project implementation ensuring successful project completion on time, within budget and meeting operational needs.
  • Lead the facilitation of high-level solution exploration with the enterprise.
  • Provide thought leadership based on industry trends and drive relevant innovations into various business groups.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

  • Evaluate analytical tools in partnership with Hyundai AutoEver America (HAEA).
  • Manage vendor resources supporting business intelligence tools.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Machine Learning models and Natural Language Processing methodologies to mine through unstructured data to uncover insights, topic detection, keyword extraction, and sentiment analysis.
  • Pre-process, clean, and analyze large data sets. 
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis.
  • Create new input features and build end to end data pipeline for machine learning models.
  • Build and optimize models using machine learning techniques.
  • Produce model documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor performance of existing suite of machine learning models and refit as necessary.
  • Manage and track department budget.
  • Manage staff, effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff’s time, materials, and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.

Education

~ Bachelor’s degree required.
~ Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

  • At least eight years of related analytical experience required
  • Experience in management consulting or acting as an internal consultant required
  • Previous hands-on experience building ML models required. 
  • At least four years of experience with data querying skills using SQL required.
  • Experience managing IT and analytics projects required.
  • At least two years of Enterprise Data Management required.
  • At least four years of experience with Python required.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience required.
  • At least two years of experience with Hadoop a plus.
  • Automotive industry experience is a plus.

Skills/Knowledge

$107,800.00 - $154,000.00 Annual
