Purpose

~ Lead and Manage the Pre-Delivery Operations Group Strategy to ensure Hyundai and Genesis Vehicles leave the ports and Vehicle Processing Centers (VPCs) at the highest level of quality.

~Monitor, audit and report on product quality and all facets of the port and VPC processing procedures; storage, final inspection, campaigns, accessory installation, load line audits and truck/rail transportation.

~Lead the strategy to monitor, audit and facilitate for dealers to achieve 100% pre delivery inspections prior to customer delivery.

~Lead the development of the Pre-Delivery Inspection Tool and associated strategies.

Major Responsibilities

~ Lead Team:

~ Set staff Performance Objectives that supports the CS Organization and HMNA’s Objectives.

~ Lead, Coach, Mentor and Manage Sea Ports and HMMA VPC Sr. Managers, Port Campaign Engineer and Liaison Engineer to achieve set objectives and foster employee engagement.

~ Conduct Yearly Performance appraisals and Mid-Year reviews for staff.

~ Develop and manage PDI Group Yearly Business Plan and Budget in support of the CS Business Plan and objectives.

~ Vehicle Quality Assurance:

~ Coordinate / Communicate directly with HMC/HMMA/HMA D&I/HMA Service Engineering/Glovis to relate/escalate port quality issues and field quality issues.
~ Review and Approve QIRs (Quality Information Report) able to provide first-hand knowledge of any product quality issues prior to dealer shipment.
~ Review and provide Monthly Ports/VPCs Quality report.
~ Review and Approve Port Campaign Bulletins.

~ Port and VPC processing quality assurance:

~ Coordinate / Communicate with HMA D&I/Glovis to ensure that operations are to HMA standards.
~ Review and Analyze Port/VPC Warranty Trend Report Review and Follow up with Port Processor/Glovis.
~ Adjust Port/VPC Quality Engineers AQL for inspection as required.
~ Update and Publish Vehicle Processing Quality Standards Manual.

~ Review and Approve all Port Bulletins.
~ Plan and Participate annual port to port evaluation audit and reporting.
~ Coordinate Accessory installation training (as needed).

Major Responsibilities (continued)

~ New Model and Accessory Development:

~ Coordinate / Participate in Port of departure (POD) and Port of Entry (POE) new model audits, ride and drives, Port installed Options (PIO) audits and monitoring events, etc. (as needed).
~ Drive / Evaluate Monitor Vehicles when requested.
~ Assist with Distribution of Monitor/PR/other special purpose vehicles.

~ QRG and Bulletins:

~ Manage QRG production, distribution and inventory control.
~ Manage other bulletins such PDI form, QRG hang tag, etc making and inventory control.

~ HMC Liaison:

~ Coordinate HMA/HMC/Vendor visits/Task Force Teams to support port quality activity.

~ Travel:

~ 25~50% of the time.

~ Frequent International Travel Required to Lead New Model Port of Departure Audits and Reporting.

~ Frequent Domestic Travel Required to: 1) Lead New Model Port of Entry Audits and Reporting 2) Review and Audit Sea Ports and VPCs procedures and operations to meet the highest Quality standards.

 

Authority

~ Decision-making process on critical issues, Problem Identification, Problem Solving, Ports/VPC Quality managers and Port campaign Engineer evaluation, Hiring and CR/PR/Expense report Pre-approval.

Education

~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Minimum of ten years’ experience in automotive Quality Control/Assurance.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Extensive automotive technical knowledge.

~ Proprietor hardware/software knowledge.

~ Proficient Computer Skill(Microsoft office, Excel, Power point, etc) knowledge.

~ Photographic skills.

~ Vehicle evaluation in both static and dynamic conditions.

~ High Degree of cross functional cooperation/coordination.

~ Ability to lead through influence vs direct authority.
