Purpose

  • The Manager for the Franchise Law Department will focus on ensuring the franchise law department operates efficiently and effectively. This position is responsible for managing franchise law, dealer relations, compliance, and legal operations. It will involve tracking and managing key legal projects, improving workflows, and supporting the overall efficiency of the legal team.
  • The Manager will also be responsible for document management, legal case tracking, and coordinating cross-departmental initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

Project & Program Management:

  • Program Management: Manage cross-departmental programs by organizing and coordinating activities, setting and controlling deadlines, and ensuring the program’s scope is well-defined.
  • Performance Tracking: Assess program performance regularly, preparing updates and reporting on the progress of strategic initiatives to leadership.
  • Legal Documentation: Oversee the processes for legal documentation, such as engagement letters and new case management.
  • Litigation Tracking: Implement and manage a litigation tracker to monitor ongoing legal cases, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.

Action Tracking & Initiative Acceleration:

  • Action Tracker Management: Manage an action tracker to ensure that key acceleration projects and open items from the franchise law department are progressing as planned.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Develop innovative reporting and analytics to track and manage key KPIs, providing insights to improve department performance.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

Reporting & Presentations:

  • Executive Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed reports and presentations on key initiatives and project progress to the Director of Franchise Law & Dealer Relations, ensuring they are informed of the department’s performance and ongoing initiatives.
  • PowerPoint Presentations: Create executive presentations for internal meetings, updates, and external events, effectively communicating progress on strategic initiatives and project outcomes.

Legal Process Management:

  • Document Processes: Establish efficient processes for legal document handling, including settlement agreements, legal holds, engagement letters, and case files for new legal matters.
  • Case Management: Support the department in tracking new legal cases, ensuring all legal matters are handled efficiently.
  • Budget & Financial Management:
  • Budget Tracking: Collaborate with the Director to support budget creation and tracking for legal programs, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and improve existing workflows, document processes, and legal operations to enhance the department’s efficiency and productivity.
  • Training Material Development: Develop training materials for the legal team and other departments, ensuring clear understanding of legal processes, compliance protocols, and franchise-related legal obligations.

Authority

  • Department leadership, program development, problem identification, and finding solutions are all expected in this position. 
  • All employee evaluations, CR/PR/expense report approval, program approvals, and budget decisions must ultimately be approved by the Director and/or General Counsel of HMNA.
  • This role requires the performance of work directly related to management and/or general business operations.
  • The exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance is required.

Education

~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

  • Six or more years of experience managing projects with cross-departmental collaboration is required.
  • Experience managing documentation processes required.
  • Experience creating reports (Excel) and presentations (PowerPoint) for leadership.
  • Experience at an automotive corporate office preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills (ability to run various reports, consolidate data and analyze into a story/action item is necessary).
  • Program management skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools, document management systems, and compliance protocols.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and other reporting/analytics tools.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on reporting accuracy and process improvement.

Certification

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred but not required.

$86,800.00 - $124,000.00 Annual
