Intern, Logistics & Performance Analysis

Location: National Headquarters in Fountain Valley, CA. - Seeking local candidates only.
Must be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week
Major Responsibilities:
- Act as the liaison between HGMA, GLOVIS, MOBIS, Port Processors, and Carriers on all logistics and wholesale-related matters.
- Effectively communicate HGMA's objectives to the relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as sales, production, or procurement.
- Develop reporting and analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide responsive and accurate ad hoc reporting and analysis upon request.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
Project Details:
Supply Chain Optimization Project
- Analyze and identify bottlenecks within the supply chain, coordinating with stakeholders (HGMA, GLOVIS, MOBIS) to implement efficiency improvements.
- Develop strategies to optimize transportation routes and distribution channels to reduce cost and delivery time.
Data-Driven Reporting Initiative
- Work on creating automated dashboards for real-time logistics data tracking, covering key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, cost-per-mile, and inventory turnover.
- Collaborate with the analytics team to develop ad hoc reporting capabilities for quick decision-making support.
Logistics Process Improvement
- Conduct process mapping and analysis sessions with Port Processors and Carriers to streamline handover points and reduce redundancies.
- Implement process changes and document outcomes to provide measurable improvements in turnaround time and accuracy.
Additional Notes:
- Available for a full-time paid internship in June to August 2025
- Local to NHQ (no relocation or housing will be offered)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the internship
- Hybrid schedule (onsite 3-4x per week, depending on business/project need)
- Visa sponsorship is not available
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday)
- Compensation: $25.00/Hour
Education:
- Must be a high school graduate
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree program in a related functional field
Related Experience:
- Prior experience in distribution and logistics, preferably with a major automotive importer.
- Regional distribution experience with the same is a plus.
Skill/Knowledge:
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Database program proficiency is highly desirable.
- Experience with SAP, CAARS, AS400, and the ability to create various queries in these systems is a strong plus.
- Knowledge and familiarity with SharePoint for monitoring damaged units is beneficial.
- Common sense, strong follow-up skills, self-motivated, and the ability to work effectively with and motivate people, including vendor staff and HGMA co-workers
