Location: National Headquarters in Fountain Valley, CA. - Seeking local candidates only.
Must be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week

 

Purpose

Intended for a rising second year law student, this position will provide research and drafting support to projects across the Legal Division that are pending as of Summer 2025.  Then-pending projects from various practice areas in the Division (transactional, litigation, environmental, franchise, and compliance) and selected based on impact to the company.  Likely project descriptions are listed in the major responsibilities below.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Draft commercial agreements, review and advise regarding proposed revisions to commercial agreements and negotiate commercial agreements with vendors and other commercial partners.
  • Review and update company template agreements.
  • Assist in various pending class action, environmental, and product liability matters.
  • Research laws on attorney advertising and scour internet and social media platforms for deceptive, unethical, infringing, or misleading attorney advertisements concerning our vehicles.  Draft notices or correspondence in response.
  • Research laws on reporting fraudulent submissions in class action settlements and advise on corresponding strategies.
  • Research and draft memoranda interpreting California’s emerging GHG emission reporting regulations.
  • Research and draft internal data mapping.
  • Research safe, secure possibilities for AI-related automated use cases within the Division.
  • Research laws on disseminating confidential personal information by third parties and draft responsive correspondence.
  • Research and draft legal hold memoranda directed to anticipated litigation matters
  • Review advertising and marketing materials and recommend edits.
  • Monitor dockets in outstanding industrywide litigation and draft memoranda updating same.

 

Additional Notes

  • Available for a full-time paid internship in June to August 2025  
  • Local to NHQ (no relocation or housing will be offered)  
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the internship  
  • Hybrid schedule (onsite 3-4x per week, depending on business/project need)  
  • Visa sponsorship is not available  
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday)
  • Compensation: $25.00 per hour

 

Education

  • Must be a high school graduate
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

 

Related Experience

  • Successful completion of the first year of law school at an accredited, top tier law school

 

Skill/Knowledge

  • Strong research, writing, and negotiating skills.
  • Computer literate, including Westlaw and Excel knowledge.
  • Careful attention to detail; capacity to handle multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Automotive experience and/or interest a plus.
