Location

Fountain Valley, CA

Purpose

  • Responsible for identifying and reporting safety, compliance and regulatory concerns on Hyundai and Genesis models.
  • Responsible for creating escalation material for review.
  • Work closely with Engineers from Safety Emerging Issues and Vehicle Safety Investigation team as needed to assist in emerging issue detection and analysis.

Major Responsibilities

  • Through examination of consumer complaint data, field reports, legal cases, supplier information; dealer reports, plant information, other safety recalls, compliance and consumer metric testing, NHTSA VOQ data and outliers in warranty data, identify possible safety related defects and/or FMVSS non-compliances associated with Hyundai production vehicles.
  • Once identified as a possible issue, conduct a data-driven, but timely, investigation.
  •  Determine preliminary severity, occurrence, and detectability scores using established metrics.
  • Track and manage assigned cases to ensure KPIs are within requirements (including handle time, response time and reporting deadlines).
  • Summarize reviews that clearly define the issue(s) and the above parameters.
  • Immediately notify upper management of potential catastrophic defects requiring stop sale or immediate field action.

Authority

  • This position will have access to Hyundai expertise needed to complete investigations and a direct line to upper management to inform of critical issues identification.
  • Liaise with Hyundai design, manufacturing, and supplier affiliates as needed.

Education

~ Bachelor’s degree preferred

Related Experience

  • Five or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Some experience in conducting timely investigations into equipment failure modes.
  • One or more years of experience in the automotive business, including, vehicle safety, design, testing, field reliability evaluation, and/or service quality is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Results-driven with excellent project and program management skills.
  • Ability to identify and utilize the corporation's expertise related to the issue under investigation. 
  • Some knowledge of specific vehicle systems or performance areas such as powertrain, chassis, electrical, crashworthiness, etc.
  • Ability to accurately analyze high-volume technical data.

$69,300.00 - $99,000.00 Annual
