Purpose

  • Manage the purchasing functions of the assigned Business Units to achieve maximum value and strategic purchasing results.
  • Work closely, with early involvement to assist, direct, and mentor departments in best purchasing practices, and strategic planning/scheduling of initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Business Division and Purchasing management on strategic planning and analysis of initiatives and projects.
  • Consistently provide a high level of customer service, while assisting the Business Division with sourcing of qualified suppliers, development of specifications, scope of services development for contracting, and leveraging services across multiple divisions.
  • Knowledge of contracting and preparation; proficient in preparation of scope writing.
  • Strive to achieve cost savings/avoidance and bring added value to the purchase of goods and services.
  • Exercise discretion to consistently promote early purchasing involvement.
  • Serve as a business consulting partner to responsible Business Division(s).
  • Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships including review of performance on a regular basis.
  • Analyze the company’s purchasing requirements, research market conditions, and recommend strategic improvements to streamline the purchasing procedures.
  • Prepare reports on utilization, cost savings, supplier performance and project scheduling.
  • Must have a positive attitude, Team player, strong work ethic, character, and integrity.

Authority

  • Identifying and resolving potential problems or issues that may impact a program, project, or business condition. 
  • Critical issues are to be discussed with management for visibility, direction, and alternative solutions.
  • The position may involve interviewing/evaluating new hires.
  • PO signature authority up to $100,000.
  • This role requires the performance of work directly related to management and general business operations.
  • The exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance is required.

Education

~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

  • Five or more years of experience in the procuring commodities, equipment, or services.
  • Five or more years of experience in the development, negotiation, or administration of contracts.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Experienced with purchasing/accounting/financial systems.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Advanced negotiation and cost/price analysis skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and experience with SAP Purchasing software is preferred.

$69,300.00 - $99,000.00 Annual
