~ Ensure Hyundai vehicles leave the ports at the highest level of quality possible by monitoring product quality and all facets of the port processing procedures; storage, final inspection, campaigns, accessory installation, load line audits and truck/rail transportation.

~ This position requires residence near the Port. (Port Hueneme)

Major Responsibilities

~ Vehicle Quality Assurance:

~ Manage premium (EQUUS/new Genesis) special processing and inspectors.

~ Manage LMFC (Fuel Cell Tucson) special processing.

~ Visit dealers and do the dealer PDI audit to find dealer PDI processing issues.

~ Coordinate / Communicate with Service Engineer/Model-line engineer to relate port quality issues and field quality issues.

~ Perform special double inspection and authorization to release on all EQUUS (Brunswick and Hueneme port only).

~ Manage IQS inspectors during the IQS period.

~ Quality Information Reports (QIR) are prepared as necessary to provide first-look knowledge of any product quality issues prior to dealer shipment.

~ Port Warranty claims review and approval.

~ Warranty repair parts oversight/support.

~ Battery status check and report at First Point of Rest.

~ Fuel light check and report at First Point of Rest.

~ Conduct spot checks and report as needed.

~ Port campaign process oversight/support.

~ Port campaign audits.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

~ Port processing Quality Assurance:

~ HMA liaison with GLOVIS and Port processor. Work directly with the GLOVIS Port Manager and Port Processing staff to ensure that operations are to HMA standards.

~ FPOR (First Point of Rest) audits to find factory quality issues on the newest production vehicles.

~ Joint Publishing (with GLOVIS) of Final Inspection Trend/Issues Report.

~ Port Warranty Trend Report Review and follow-up with Port Processor/GLOVIS.

~ Study Processor Operations report to understand overall process results including inventory levels, daily capacity, allocation rate and schedule, repair inventory, etc. to assess risk related to quality and to escalate/take action as required to mitigate risk.

~ Benchmark Competitive Company Port/Quality/Distribution Process and propose continuous improvement ideas.

~ New Model and Accessory Development:

~ Verify the Monroney sticker just right after wholesale release.

~ Participate in POD and POE audits, Ride and Drives, PIO audits, monitoring events, etc. (as needed).

~ Support HMA Parts and Accessory QA group in conducting PIO accessory tryout and instruction process confirmation.


~ Problem identification and solving only.


~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Six to seven years experience in Automotive Quality Control / Quality Assurance.

~ Three years supervisory experience preferred.


~ Extensive automotive technical knowledge.

~ Proprietary hardware/software knowledge.

~ Proficient Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

~ Photographic skills.

~ Vehicle evaluation in both static and dynamic conditions.

~ High Degree of cross functional cooperation/coordination.

~ Ability to lead through influence vs. direct authority.

~ Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
