This position’s main focus is on Genesis brand (some assignment may include Hyundai Brand because of synergy)


~ Position works closely with National and Regional Management to develop, review and publish necessary documentation to meet company business objectives and ensure that all publications released from the Warranty Department are accurate and released on a timely basis, including Policy & Procedures, Warranty Manual, Warranty Coverage Guides, Owners’ Handbooks

~ Work closely with Genesis Group for coordination of warranty, campaign, field activities.

~ Position requires extensive interaction between HMC Personnel and Warranty involving policy matters, system edits, procedures.


~ This position is responsible for managing all Warranty System related projects with Hyundai AutoEver America (HAEA), as well as, manages all related systems projects involving other Departments in order to develop and maintain the Warranty System’s (comprised of the AS400, WebDCS and Global Warranty System) technical capabilities to be in-line with Warranty Policies and Procedures.

  ~ Recommend and implement Policy and Procedures changes based upon current Warranty Environment.

  ~ Provide recommendations through analysis of critical data in order to mitigate loss of revenue.

  ~ Manage the updates, modifications, or implementation of new systems programs as a result of policy changes, new systems technology, new model/equipment technology, etc

  ~ Manage the research and resolution of system claim errors with HAEA personnel.


~ This position manages the following programs/processes:

  ~ Communicate with Regions and Retailers regarding Warranty at Retail (Parts and Labor)

  ~ Manage the Warranty at Retail Request process (both Labor and Parts) to ensure State regulations are adhered to from a Legal standpoint. 

Major Responsibilities

~ Primary warranty policy subject matter expert.  Need to be knowledgeable about industry warranty policy, knows the major difference between all tier one OEM competitors

~ Conduct regular warranty benchmarking activities with all other OE Automakers mass market brands & premium brands.

~ On-going interaction between Warranty and HMC/Service/Parts/Marketing/Sales covering new programs, claims analysis, procedures and policies, review of manuals, publications, handbooks, etc

~ On-going National/Regional/Dealer/Fleet/HMMA/Port/CA Support on warranty claim submission, system changes, new projects, Project Management & warranty policy inquiries

~ Coordinate, process, and manage, requests from various organizations in regards to Policy issues, time allowances, on-going quality issues, issues affecting the day-to-day operations.

~ Oversee all functions of the Warranty Systems (AS400 and WebDCS), including creating new edits, modifying existing edits, updating or creating new system functionality and warranty policy

~ Work closely with all groups (campaign, billing, Expense Management) and HAEA to implement system changes for Warranty Approval Center, Warranty Technical Center, Warranty/(AS400) & WebDCS to ensure warranty system will support the increasing business needs.

~ Manage all updates to changes in Date of First Use (DFU) Requests, additional/removal of all branding requests, updates to Original Owner requests.

~ Oversee all functions of the Warranty Department Administration, including Warranty Budgets, Record Retention, etc.

Major Responsibilities (continued)


~ Position requires extensive knowledge of the warranty claim system and all interaction with other company systems to make required enhancements, policy changes, and judgement calls on repair coverage.


~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Eight years’ experience in automotive related environment, preferably with Warranty background.


~ Strong organizational skills required.

~ Strong analytical background, with some Financial Background.

~ Strong Computer Capability including Excel, Word, QMF Capability Preferred, AS400 experience, etc.
