Purpose

~ This individual has the lead role in developing and improving all proprietary Hyundai & Genesis vehicle diagnostic systems including, but is not limited to, the Global Diagnostic System (GDS) system, other Dealership diagnostic equipment and special service tools.

~ The primary goal of the Hyundai diagnostic program is to improve the Hyundai & Genesis Dealership technician’s efficiency and ability to diagnose the customer vehicle and fix it correctly the first time.

~ This individual is expected to spearhead research of upcoming advanced diagnostic technologies and determine if and how they should be integrated into the overall Hyundai & Genesis diagnostic program.

~ Manage the licensing and profitability of Hyundai and Genesis diagnostic and repair information to companies such as Mitchell, other, etc.

~ In addition, this person shall assume project management of new initiatives related to diagnostic tools, diagnostic special service tools and other related programs to integrate them into Hyundai & Genesis overall diagnostic strategy and company priorities.

Major Responsibilities

~ Use independent judgement to assess development and launch activities for all advanced diagnostic tools.

~ Identify, document, and report functional or compatibility issues with the GDS system.

~ Ensure the GDS countermeasures are tested and delivered on schedule.

~ GDS software update coordination & approval.

~ Assist the development, and oversee testing, validation, and distribution of all diagnostic tools.

~ Oversee publication Technical Services Bulletins related to GDS, diagnostic equipment and special diagnostic service tools.

~ Launch and manage research of new diagnostic technologies and determine if and how they should be integrated into the Hyundai & Genesis diagnostic program.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

Authority

~ Individual is responsible for providing, maintaining, and analyzing the overall yearly budget related to diagnostic systems (i.e., G.I.T. and other diagnostic programs).

~Individual has final approval authority for campaign-related ECU update S/W.

~Individual has authority to operate pre-production and HMA Engineering fleet production vehicles to gain first-hand knowledge of conditions, fix validation, and data requirements for GDS and other diagnostic SSTs.

~Individual has authority to request and spend from Purchase Orders related to GDS and other advanced diagnostic tools.

~Individual has authority to travel to Tool Trade Shows (SEMA, etc.) and Dealer visits to test production model software.

Education

~ Bachelor’s degree required.
~ Master’s degree a plus
~ Must be a high school graduate

Related Experience

~ Six or more years of relevant experience with an automotive OE or distributor in a similar technical capacity.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of vehicle systems.

~ Proficient at using advanced vehicle diagnostic and test equipment.

~ Ability to effectively document and report issues discovered during test and validation activities.

~ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work within an international environment.

~ Excellent PC skills with proficiency with the complete Microsoft Office suite of programs.

~ High degree of cross functional cooperation & coordination.

$85,400.00 - $122,000.00 Annual
