Location
Purpose
~ This position will be required to manage and lead body interior & exterior and paint product quality for Hyundai and Genesis Brands. The ideal candidate will focus on vehicle evaluation, product quality, customer acceptance, proper retail diagnosis, vehicle development and lead development of the tools required to diagnose and properly repair vehicles in the field.
~ Responsible for validating product complaints, qualitative analysis, recalling and analysis of warranty parts, and reporting of new and emerging and any existing systematic product issues.
~ Responsible for the development of countermeasures for (a) field repairs and (b) production in coordination with HMC and affiliated groups.
~ Responsible for timely publication of all related Technical Service Bulletins.
~ Ensure support to achieve high ranking of CR/IQS/VDS surveys.
Major Responsibilities
~ Use independent judgement to identify and report field Vehicles Paint, Body interior and exterior Hardware, Body Sealing and NVH Concerns; This includes evaluation of newly delivered vehicles, customer vehicles and pre-production vehicles.
~ Use advanced knowledge to support investigation & Root Cause Analysis, of fleet, plant, or customer vehicle issues related to Body/NVH Wind Noise and BSR.
~ Exercise discretion to develop, evaluate, and validate vehicle failure countermeasures. Manage the development of field repair solutions and initiate production changes, as necessary.
~ Work with engineering counterparts overseas on joint activities and development projects including participation in extreme weather / ambient testing to validate functional performance against requirements.
~ Prepare written Quality Information Report documents, clearly explaining condition and recommended solutions. Prepare photographs/illustrations/sample parts/videos as appropriate to enhance communication.
~ Prepare Technical Service Bulletin drafts in area of responsibility.
~ Lead the Hyundai and Genesis models Body Repair Manual (BRM) content reviews and publish in timely manner.
~ Attend Port POE Audit. Help specify Port maintenance and processing requirements.
~ Assist in vehicle “Ride and Drive” evaluations as required.
~ Provide technical support to field staff, Techline, Consumer Affairs, Parts, Legal, and Warranty departments as required.
~ Coordinate the collection and analysis of warranty return parts, dealer visits and on-car investigations to determine the cause of failure and initiate corrective action.
Major Responsibilities (continued)
~ Monitor the analysis of warranty and Techline databases, customer surveys, warranty parts analyses and Field Service Engineering reports on an ongoing basis to detect new systematic product problems and to gauge the effectiveness of countermeasures taken against known problems.
~ Ensure successful launches of new models and support of Launch Quality Monitoring Process.
~ Conduct Labor Time Study (LTS) on new models to ensure fair/adequate repair time and procedure for dealers and HMC/HMMA.
~ Coordinate and manage the Monthly Quality Report development each month.
~ Work closely and cooperatively with various groups throughout the organization (Data Analysis Group, Field Service Engineers, Legal, Consumer Affairs, Warranty, Parts and Techline group to communicate/interchange technical and service related problems and resolutions.
~ Monitor and clearly identify JDPA IQS/VDS/CSI (FRFT) and CR Reliability (Durability) surveys liabilities and develop improvement and validation plans accordingly.
~ Oversee development of required Special Service Tools to assist Dealers with vehicle repairs.
~ Develop, support and conduct competitor benchmarking and customer preference studies.
~ Conduct other tasks related to the Purpose of this Position as assigned or requested.
Authority
~ Provide technical support/direction to field staff, TechLine and various internal HMA/GMA groups
~ Lead Body and Paint related activities from Engineering and coordinate with other divisions
~ Issue Quality Information Reports (QIR).
~ Issue Technical Service Bulletins (TSB).
~ Issue Dealer Communication System messages (DCS).
Education
Related Experience
~ Two to five years of relevant work experience.
~ Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge
~ Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
~ Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
~ Strong written and oral communication skills.
~ Strong analytical/problem solving ability.
~ Strong data management/general and statistical analysis/reporting
~ Individual must be well organized yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.
~ Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision and direction.
