Purpose

~ Conduct analysis, experiments, failure modes effects analysis, and testing on subsystems and components related to active field investigations and quality improvement initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

~ Use advanced knowledge to specify, recommend, and perform a variety of testing, experiments, and evaluations on material relevant to active investigations and quality improvement initiatives.

~ Exercise independent judgement to manage and prioritize multiple activities within specified delivery timeframes.

~ Analyze metallic, composite, and electronic materials, as well as vehicle subsystems and components using equipment such as CT scanning system and scanning electron microscope.

~ Create and maintain evaluation and test parameters for unique situations arising from multiple sources.

~ Provide timely, clear, concise, and accurate reports to communicate results and conclusions of evaluations.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

~ Add authoritative discussion, context, and conclusions to evaluation results.

~ Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and systems, including coordination of maintenance, repairs, and supplies with Lab Management.

~ Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained.

~ Communicate effectively with Safety Office team members keeping team informed of status and progress of activities to support investigations.

Authority

~ Position requires attaining and maintaining a high level of technical knowledge about Hyundai vehicles and automotive components to assist in identifying potential vehicle safety conditions.  This position will have access to Hyundai expertise needed to complete investigations and a direct line to upper management to inform of critical issues identification.

~ Evaluate and validate field action repairs related to recall campaigns on safety matters.
~ Liaise with Hyundai design, manufacturing, and supplier affiliates.

~ Primary duties include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

Education

~ Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Five or more years of relevant work experience.

~ Experience in conducting laboratory operations and experiments.

~ Knowledge of specialized techniques such as CT scan, SEM, spectrometry, metallurgy, and others related to automotive forensics.

~ Experience in gathering and analyzing statistical data.

~ Three or more years of experience in the automotive business, in areas such as, vehicle safety, design, testing, field reliability evaluation, materials engineering, diagnostic laboratory, or service is preferred.

~ Automotive assembly plant or component manufacturing experience a plus.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Results-driven with excellent project and program management skills.

~ Ability to proactively collaborate with peers, vehicle component experts and leadership within the organization and creatively problem solve needed to complete investigations.

~ Ability to concurrently manage a range of experiments in a timely manner.

~ Ability to identify and utilize the corporation expertise related to the issue under investigation.

~ Ability to accurately analyze high-volume technical data.

~ Ability to present findings to all pertinent levels of the corporation.

~ Aptitude to work well with and communicate clearly with members of various HMA and HMC legal, quality, engineering, testing, and service departments.

$67,200.00 - $96,000.00 Annual
